Inspired Action

Inspired Action

Posted by michael whyte

There are many books and speakers out there in the self-help world repeating the quote “If you are comfortable you are not growing.” When I first read it in my early 20’s I loved it. I repeated it to anyone that would listen. However, there are many things uncomfortable in our lives, and we all do them. And yes we are growing in some capacity when we interact with the world, but the large strides we want to see do not just come from doing something uncomfortable. The uncomfortable or unfamiliar action we take needs to also be inspired.

Inspired action is different from any other action. Because it is derived from your authentic self. When you are living joyfully and expecting things to go your way you become true to who you are. Your authentic self is inspiring you towards something. The actions you take to get there do not seem strenuous, they seem like the next stepping stone on your path. You show up to each action with excitement for what it will bring.

Any discomfort you feel from an inspired action is not from the task itself, but from the releasing of your old way of thinking. Your old way of thinking usually includes beliefs that prevent expansion. The fears and anxieties around expansion did serve you at one point in your life. They were necessary so don’t beat yourself up for having them. However, you no longer need them. You are safe now, you have all the strength you need to grow and expand. So while appreciating your past beliefs, it is time to release what no longer serves you.

The more you release your old thoughts that no longer serve you, the more you will grow. And pretty soon growing will feel not only comfortable but amazing!

Congratulations! The momentum has begun!
